Easter Dress Inspiration

Easter is right around the corner, and I’m so excited about the fresh start it will bring. Spring is here, symbolizing the old passing away and bringing new life. The cold weather is going away. Flowers are in bloom. The sun is out more. Baby animals are being born. Everyone is in a happier mood. I love bringing out my spring dresses and brighter colors this time of year. As a Christian, I try to dress modestly, but it is not my place to tell you what is modest and what is not. Wear whatever makes you feel beautiful, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide your decisions. I hope these dresses inspire you to attend your local church and celebrate our Savior this Easter.

This dress is from Everlane. It is no longer available but here is a similar dress.

Getting to show everyone our outfits at church is not the main reason we should go to church. It should be to worship, learn about God, and fellowship with other believers. As we prepare what we wear, let’s prepare our hearts for Easter. This Sunday is Palm Sunday, which refers to the day Jesus entered Jerusalem for the Passover. Most people think of Jesus riding on a donkey while the people lay palm leaves on the ground singing ‘Hosanna’ as Palm Sunday (which it is), but I want to highlight something that happened right before. John 12 tells of Mary anointing Jesus' feet with expensive oil. The disciples were shocked that she would waste such expensive perfume (which was usually used for burials) on Jesus, who was still alive. Jesus responded by saying to leave her alone. He said what she did was good because he would not always be with them. In Mark 14, Jesus adds that she will always be remembered for this whenever it is told. The people in Jerusalem prepared the way for Jesus as a king, who they thought would defeat the Romans, but Mary prepared Jesus as her Savior, whom she realized would not always be with her in person. So, let’s prepare our hearts for Easter. Spend time in the Word reading the events that lead up to Easter. Let’s focus on the real reason Jesus came to Jerusalem: to die and save us from our sins because our worship of God is worth more than anything we could buy.
