How to Make a Box Cake Mix Better

When you are in need of a homemade cake quickly, a cake mix is perfect, but if you want it to taste better, then you can add some things to it. I tried the Pinterest recipe for making a box cake mix better. I can honestly say that it does make a box cake taste more like it’s from a bakery. All you have to do is buy a box cake mix and switch a few ingredients. If the recipe calls for eggs, then you add 1-2 extra. If it calls for water, then you replace it with the same amount of milk. If it calls for vegetable oil, then you replace it with melted butter and double the amount. It makes the cake richer and moister. When I made this strawberry cake, I added fresh strawberries to the top. The only thing I would change about the recipe is adding chopped strawberries to the cake batter. Overall, the cake was a hit with my family, and everyone loved it.

Abide in Christ

In John 15: 1-17, Jesus talks about bearing fruit, abiding in him, and his commandment to love one another. What do these things have to do with one another? Jesus explains it for us. He gives the analogy of himself as the vine, the Father as the vinegrower, and us as the branch. The branches that abide in the vine, the Father prunes to bear more fruit. The branches that don’t abide in the vine, the Father removes from the vine. In simple terms, when we abide in Jesus, the Father works on us to become more like him. It may not be a fun process for us, but it produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (the Fruit of the Spirit). Apart from God, we cannot produce these attributes on our own. We need him to develop these in us, which may take a while. And when we are not abiding in Christ, it can take longer. But what is abiding in Christ? Jesus also explains this in the verses. He blatantly says that abiding in him is keeping his commandments. He says that he is our example of how to do this because he kept the Father’s commandments and abided in his love. But what is his commandment to us? He goes on to say that his commandment is to love one another as he has loved us. There is no greater love than to lay down your life for your friends. We are Jesus’ friends, and we are called to love one another and bear fruit. He says that when we bear fruit that lasts, anything we ask of in his name, the Father will give. Getting pruned and loving one another is hard, but it should bring us joy because it glorifies God. Jesus has beautifully connected these concepts for us to understand and follow. We are to be sanctified by the Father bearing fruit, and we do that by abiding in Christ following his commandment to love one another. Go back and read these verses for yourself. I hope you remember these verses when you face trials or find it hard to love someone. Your pain will not be wasted, God is doing something great in you.

“My brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of any kind, consider it nothing but joy, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance; and let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.” James 1:2-4
