Christian Podcasts I’m Listening To

I have been considering what kind of content I am consuming lately. Usually, I am scrolling on my phone or watching TV, but I wanted something more fulfilling. I started listening to Christian podcasts that were life-giving and thought-provoking. If you don’t know what podcasts are, they are like radio stations with conversations around a topic or interviewee. I listen to podcasts on the Podcast app on my iPhone, but you can listen on most music streaming apps. A lot of podcasts post their content on YouTube as well. These podcasts became part of my morning routine, my quiet time, and whenever I was in the car. I learn more from listening to podcasts than I do from listening to music. I noticed that my mind was filled with good thoughts throughout the day, and I was less stressed because I would remember the words from a podcast or a Bible verse.

I want to highlight a specific episode I listened to this past week. It was titled “When Your Fairytale Feels Delayed w/ Holly Scurry Todd” from the Call Her Holy podcast. This episode was so amazing that I cried in my car driving down the road. In this episode, they interview Holly Scurry Todd and her journey of singleness. This message spoke straight to me. You know those moments where you feel the presence of the Holy Spirit and God speaking directly to you; that was this episode. I won’t spoil the whole thing, but Holly talks about how she was single until she was 41. Being a single woman, you may think this episode would scare me, but it is so hopeful. It truly showed me the promise God has for me and the strength to wait on him. If you are in a similar situation and waiting for a sign that God sees you in your singleness, listen to this podcast episode.

Paul wrote this to the Philippians as encouragement for their faith. “Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you (Philippians 4:8-9).” What we consume matters. The things we think about shape our actions and reactions to things. On days when I have a quiet time in the morning, listen to worship music, and listen to a podcast, I am more peaceful and conscious of my reactions. It is easier to recall Scripture I just heard that morning than last week at church. I remember to pray more in difficult situations when I have been reading the Bible and thinking about God throughout the day. If you want the peace that surpasses all understanding that can only come from God, consume his word and think of anything praiseworthy. What is one thing in your routine you can replace with something praiseworthy?
